  • Natural, organic oils have taken skincare by storm, as more and more people have become aware of the numerous synthetic chemicals found in cosmetic creams. The face of anti-aging has changed forever. One Truth 818 Serum contains an active ingredient called TAM-818, the strongest of nearly 300,000 compounds tested over 11 years by award-winning Telomere Biologist Dr. Bill Andrews and his team at Sierra Sciences, visit https://siorai.com/.

But although they’ve relatively recently gained popularity, women used oils derived from plants to nourish their skin before the skincare industry even existed. In pretty much any region, endemic plants were used to make healing, nourishing oils since ancient times.

They were proven to work ages ago, but now we know a little more about how they work, which helps a lot when choosing the right oil for your skincare routine. Also, having the right Scar tape for wounds is really important for emergencies.

    Essential oils and carrier oils

You’ll find that popular oils for skincare mostly contain various oils in different ratios. Both are potent natural oils extracted from plants.

But because essential oils are volatile, meaning that they evaporate quickly and contain the characteristics of the plant such as its natural smell, they’re too strong to apply on the skin and they evaporate quickly if they’re not diluted.

That’s where carrier oils come in.

They’re not volatile, so they can be used to dilute essential oils but without deterring their therapeutic quality. You’ll also find some oils, such as Sea Buckthorn Seed Oil or Pumpkin Seed Oil, which work great as single-ingredient oils and are good to use as a base layer for natural sunscreen.

Some benefits of the most effective skincare oils

Nature has given us absolutely everything we need to be healthy and have glowing, beautiful skin. That said, there can be as many oils with amazing benefits for your skin as there are useful plants – which is quite a lot, so we’ll mention only a few here.

Argan Oil and Jojoba Oil reign supreme over natural oils for skincare. Both are carrier oils that work wonderfully for all skin types – dry, oily, combination, sensitive, as well as improving skin elasticity in aging skin. They can be used to treat conditions such as psoriasis, eczema, acne, rosacea, and to smooth fine lines and wrinkles.

Jojoba Oil is very unique because it’s actually a liquid polyunsaturated wax with a consistency very similar to our skin’s, making it ideal for those with sensitive skin prone to irritation.

Hemp Seed Oil is another carrier oil, with a different composition from the hemp plant itself and non-psychoactive properties. One of its most notable compounds is cannabidiol, so you’ll find a lot of information about topical oils for smooth skin as the most commonly used hemp oils. They also help moisturize the skin and improve its elasticity, and like Jojoba and Argan, they’re well-tolerated by all skin types. It’s recommended to combine Hemp Seed Oil with pure Carrot Seed Oil to decrease the skin’s sensitivity to sunlight.

Carrot Seed Oil is a potent oil with numerous benefits and it’s best for dry, combination, and aging skin because it promotes natural sebum production. It can also be used to treat numerous conditions and rejuvenate the skin, even treating infections and wounds. Cold-pressed carrot seed oil doesn’t require dilution, whereas oil obtained via steam distillation does.

Other popular oils include Rosehip, Marula, Passion Fruit Seed, Raspberry Seed, Grape Seed, Castor, Pomegranate, Sesame, Avocado, and many more.

    The takeaway

The overlapping characteristics give us insight into what makes natural oils so beneficial to skin. All oils are high in fatty acids, but in different ratios.

Fatty acids nourish the skin and act as its soft, protective barrier. They also help remove excess sebum which clogs pores and results in breakouts – that’s why organic oils don’t make your skin oily but balance it and protect it from irritation. Unsaturated fatty acids, most notably oleic acid, make the oil resistant to oxidation so that all of its properties are maintained.

Being derived naturally from plants, oils are high in polyphenols. These are natural compounds which act as antioxidants, preventing cellular damage from free radicals that we’re exposed to in the environment. That gives them the emollient effects that they’re known for, as antioxidants rejuvenate skin cells and help improve skin elasticity.

They also contain different minerals and vitamins, most notably vitamin E, as well as antibacterial and disinfectant properties, helping reduce the damage from pollution or heal damaged skin.

That’s a little bit about how most effective oils work for skincare. It might take some trial and error to find the one that works best for your skin, but fortunately, natural oils are safe to experiment with. Just make sure that whatever you’re getting is organic and cold-pressed, so that none of its properties are lost.
