Not all Carrot Seed Oils are Equal
Ever since we were kids, we've been told how important carrots are to a good diet. Outside of being amazing to our insides though, they also serve a great purpose on our skin, especially when you use cold pressed Carrot Seed Oil on damaged and dry skin.
Carrots are especially beneficial because of the beta-carotene found in them.
Beta Carotene is an antioxidant and a carotenoid (1) and is not actually an essential nutrient itself but it converts into Vitamin A which is extremely beneficial for our immunity, eyes, skin, and fighting and preventing many diseases. This makes Carrot Seed Oil extremely nutrient dense and beneficial for the skin but there is some confusion about what type of Carrot Seed Oil to use and how they work.
Carrot Seed Oil actually comes from the seeds of the wild carrot plant, also known as Queen Anne’s Lace or Daucus Carota, not the little orange snacks.
Queen Anne’s Lace is a flowering plant found in North America and Europe, originally thought to have come from areas in the Middle East. The top of this plant is a beautiful white and purple flower and underneath, lies the carrot root. The wild carrot, when pulled up, smells very similar to the carrots eaten today except the wild carrot is an ivory color (2). Much like its cousin, the domestic carrot that we eat today, these carrots are edible when they are young (2). As these carrot roots mature, the root becomes tough and woody (2) and not ideal for eating. Caution in eating though - too much of eating this type of carrot can be poisonous. Most Carrot Oils are made from the seeds of the wild carrot plant.
3 Different Types of Carrot Seed Oils
Carrot Seed Essential Oil - The essential oil is steam distilled from the seeds of the carrot plant. Always dilute this oil for best uses.
Macerated Carrot Oil - This oil is made by placing a softened carrot root into a vegetable oil, and then filtering the carrot out of the oil. This benefits of this oil are impacted by the oil it is soaked in and can stain your skin if not diluted (3).
Cold Pressed Carrot Seed Oil - This oil comes from the seeds of the carrot plant as well but it is cold pressed. This oil does not need to be diluted but can be used on its own for skincare and haircare.
Benefits of Cold-Pressed Carrot Seed Oil
Decreases sun damage - Carotenoids in this oil are great healers for sun-damaged skin.
Protects skin from further harmful UV rays - Add a few drops to your natural sunscreen for added skin protection and let this oil act as added protection from the sun.
Improves complexion - this oil has the ability to balance out skin tone when used each night as a toning treatment.
Treats damaged skin - Cold pressed Carrot Seed Oil is able to help relieve burns, blisters, wounds, scars, and cracked skin.

Notes From Customers
I use this product at night before bed after I wash my face. It goes on oily but it is quickly absorbed by the skin. The smell is yummy, just like a super sweet carrot. I use it all over my face for its anti aging properties. I have had no problems with clogged pores and my skin looks great. ~ Diana Banana
I have been using this oil plus shea butter and rose hip oil on my face twice per day for the past 2 years now. I dont think I will stop using it and I believe the carrot seed oil has really helped my skin to look younger and stay protected from the sun. I also have issues with clogged pores and breakouts and this does not aggravate it at all. - jjoodove
I have been transitioning to more natural health and beauty products little by little and purchased this to make my own facial moisturizer. I wanted something that could provide sun protection and honestly was pretty skeptical that this would work. However, we were out in the sun all weekend and I didn't burn at all. Would definitely recommend, and it makes my skin feel great. - J. McNeal
About Carrot Seed Oil:
Pure Carrot Seed Oil smells a bit like roasted carrots. It is slightly sweet and very earthy. It is golden yellow or orange in color. It has a medium thickness and absorbs quickly. Use as an nighttime moisturizer to wake up looking refreshed. Unlike carrot essential oil, Carrot Seed Oil is pressed from the seeds of the wild carrot plant and can be directly applied to skin without dilution.
