Pumpkin Seed Oil for Skin & Hair – Nature’s Nutrient Restorer

Pumpkin Seed Oil for Skin & Hair – Nature’s Nutrient Restorer

It's the Season for Skin & Hair Healing!

‘Tis the season when the leaves start changing. You’re packing away your swimming suits, and grabbing some layerable cardigans. Cinnamon might start sounding good. One of the clearest signs that autumn is coming is the Starbucks Pumpkin Spice Latte.

Soon, pumpkin is EVERYWHERE.

Pumpkin bars at the office, pumpkin candles at home, and of course pumpkin pie starts making an appearance at potlucks.

Well, we’ve been loving Pumpkin all year round . . . on our faces! The power of pumpkin has a not-so-hidden secret - it’s in its SEEDS. We’ll share a bit about why this seed packs a punch, and then how you can give yourself a new way to improve your skin this fall.

WHY PUMPKIN SEEDS ARE AMAZING

Health blogs have long touted the Pumpkin Seed as a powerhouse of nutrition. We believe in cold-pressing our oils, as you may know. So our Pumpkin Seed Oil maintains all of the skin-boosting and hair-smoothing benefits of each of these vitamins.

Pumpkin Seed Oil is chocked full of carotenoids such as lutein and beta-carotene, which is a form of Vitamin A. It also boasts a healthy Vitamin E load of both forms of Vitamin E, which are Tocopherols and Tocotrienols.

It also has Zinc, Omega-3 fatty acids, Omega-6 fatty acids, as well as antioxidants.

DID YOU KNOW?

Pumpkin Seed Oil is not 100% fat, which is pretty uncommon with oils. It’s actually rich in amino acid proteins as well. No kidding.

Here are some of its nutrient acids:

  • Stearic Acid
  • Palmitic Acid
  • Oleic Acid
  • Linoleic Acid
  • Alpha Linoleic Acid
  • Arachidic Acid
  • Gadoleic Acid
  • Behenic Acid
  • Palmitoleic Acid

Here are the vitamins:

  • Vitamin E (Tocopherols & Tocotrienols)
  • Vitamin A (Beta Carotene & Lutein)
  • Vitamin C
  • Zinc
  • Selenium

WHY THESE NUTRIENTS MATTER

By being so potent, it has a host of benefits for the skin for retaining moisture, fighting free radicals, and combating the signs of aging. It renews skin, evens skin tone, heals acne scars, and prevents breakouts.

Beta-Carotene (Vitamin A) - Carotenoids are one of the best things for skin, and studies have shown that it helps fight damage that can lead to skin cancer.

Zinc + Vitamin C - These 2 nutrients even out skin tone and balance complexions while increasing firmness.

Zinc + Selenium - This combo helps balance oily or combination complexions.

Amino Acid Proteins - Adds lustre and strength to brittle, thinning, and thin hair.

To boot, Pumpkin Seed Oil seems to inhibit the undesirable activities of the 5-alpha reductase enzyme (DHT), which is a leading cause of hair loss or thinning hair. Scalp massage sounding really good right now?

HOW TO USE PUMPKIN SEED OIL

FOR SKIN

Pumpkin Seed Oil actually has some mild UV protection, so use this oil as a morning moisturizer even though you might not be sun worshipping as much as you did this summer. The sun is still out!

It makes for a great morning oil because it soaks in quickly. Smooth a few drops onto clean skin as the first moisturizing layer after you get out of the shower, or after toning with our pure Moroccan Rose Water Toner. Follow with a daily sunscreen.

FOR HAIR

Use as a weekly scalp massage for fuller, thicker, stronger hair. Leave on your scalp for 20 minutes and then pull through the rest of your locks for an oil treatment before showering.

Put a few drops in your shampoo or conditioner to lock in some moisturizing protection this season as the air gets drier.

PUMPKIN SEED OIL BENEFIT RECAP

To recap (and sneak in some more info), here is why we love this familiar seed for our beauty routines.

  • Fights signs of aging by combating free radicals
  • Boosts skin’s elasticity by encouraging collagen production
  • Naturally moisturizes with Vitamins A, C, Zinc, and Selenium
  • Helps offset sun damage and renews skin
  • Promotes healthy hair growth by inhibiting DHT (5-alpha reductase enzyme)
